This post is a slight departure from my normal business only style of blogging because I’ve come to realize that there are more ways to be successful than just being educated and properly trained. In today’s world of chemical pollutants and refined foods scientists are finding links which understandably create a new way of thinking about our bodies and minds.
My personal philosophy is that a well maintained body is the foundation of success. Many people we call leaders and innovators have found that diet and exercise are the key to success by way of personal discipline and the self realization that a healthy body creates a healthy mind. With new revelations into digestive health we can see that many conditions are located in the gut and digestive system. Studies show that there are links to depression and anxiety as bad bacterial waste acts as neurotoxins which affect how we think, feel, and behave.
Sujan Patel of Forbes Magazine states that “There is plenty of research available that suggest that regular exercise and a healthy diet can lead to higher levels of productivity, happiness, motivation, and, not surprisingly, your ability to live longer. One recently published study found that, “eating unhealthily is linked with a 66% increased risk of loss of productivity, while rare exercise is linked with a 50% increased risk of low productivity.”
According to Jennifer Cohen of Forbes, successful people tend to do the following five things before 8am:
- Map out your day
- Eat a healthy breakfast
- Make your day top-heavy
My personal focus on health includes doing yoga at least once a day, gardening, and taking walks with my fiance. I also brew my own Kombucha, and other naturally fermented foods and beverages to maintain healthy gut flora.
Setting a healthy routine which requires personal discipline sets the stage for success as you’re mentally and physically more prepared for the rigors of life and possess and understanding that personal defeat can be overcome with perseverance. Just ask a marathon runner……
